You love your job, and are pretty good at it too! You have done very well and at your last performance review, Bailey, your boss, gave you “exceeds expectations” on every category except for one: timeliness. No matter how hard you try or what time you set your alarm, you seem to be running late at least once per week, and it has not gone unnoticed. To make things worse, you and your roommate recently got a new dog, Skippy. Skippy is a wonderful puppy, but is struggling with potty training. Because you both work so much, poor Skippy is alone at the apartment for long periods of time, and is definitely not making progress towards potty training. Your work is almost entirely on the computer, and you wish that you could work from home at least part of the time. That way, you would not be late so often and you could train Skippy. You are also confident that you could be very productive at home. However, when you mentioned the idea to Bailey a few months ago, she told you about a previous employee who negotiated a flexible work schedule and ended up getting fired because his productivity went down so much. Even though you know how Bailey feels about allowing employees to work from home, you have decided to bring up the subject one last time. Your task: Write an email to Bailey asking for a flexible work schedule that would allow you to work from home at least part of the time. Dear Bailey,

Hope you are doing well! I am aware we have discussed this issue earlier but I wanted to speak with you over this once more. I know about how you feel about work from home given by the experience you have had by another employee. But I would like to ensure you that this is only temporary and my productivity which you have appreciated along with other attributes of mine will not be affected adversely by this. I feel if I stay at home I will be able to improve my timeliness in the future which has been a shortfall right now. I hope you ponder upon this.
