Is it wrong for marketers to create wants where none exist in the marketplace in order to make a profit?

Business is an activity carried out with generating profit. The idea behing business is genearally to capture the market share of thr product/services the company is offering. Hence it is important to understand what people needs and what they want. In case of luxury items , such as high profile car , one need to create want as ordinary car can satisfy need. Thus company making such goods needs to create want in order to sell their product and survive.

Marketers scan the market and it's environment, understand whether there is any want or need is existing in the market for the product of the company, if not than they will create want by explainig people it's importance and how the product can make theri life easy

Since main motive of business is to create profit it is not wrong on part of marketers to create wants where none exist in the market place
