Read the following proposed research study. Please state the type of statistical analysis that you would recommend to the researcher and what brought you to that conclusion:

Flynn is interested in looking at the relationship between how valuable an item is and the likelihood it is to be stolen. He measures how valuable the item in and places it into 3 categories. He also determines whether the item is stolen or not.

The best analysis that would be suitable for this situation would be :-

Chi square test of independence

Since stolen is a qualitative variable - a binary variable(either a thing would be stolen or not), running traditional tests would not provide us with the relevant statistical analysis in order to make inferences that would be beneficial for this particular research. Chi square test would enable us to know whether an item has more chance of being stolen given its value or not, also considering the provided categories of the valuable item.
