"Cows don't go to school!" -- After farmland is converted to residential developments you end up paying high in taxes for new schools which are built. Expansions of schools, transportation, industry, housing, and other developments are driving land out of farming. Moreover presents a challenge to food production in future and ecosystem services . These environmental "externalities" leads to a divergence between social and private costs for some land uses, resulting to an inefficient land allocation
