Agenda-Setting is the power or ability of the media to influence the public and their agenda on certain topics. The topics can be political, social, etc. This theory tries to make predictions and tries to influence audiences. An example is the frequent coverage of a certain news item making the issue seem more important to the common people.

Third-person effect is the phenomenon that predicts that media messages have greater effects on others than the individual itself.
