The three major forms of the government can be ellucidated as follows -

a.) Autocracy: Where the power is concentrated within just one person or polity. All the decisions are made by this person and are subject to no legal constraints or to the votes of the many. There is no power with the citizens and all the power is rested with this political leader.

b.) Oligarchy: It is the power structure where the power is concentarted within a few distinguished families in the economy. These can be the nobility, the rich or the well educated families. All major decisions are to be taken by them.

c.) Democracy: This means rule of the poeple, by the people and for the people. This is the system of the government where the majority of the citizens elect their representatives to a parliament house and all major decisions are taken by the majority of the people in the nation by means of voting.
