According to the Declaration of Independence: What rights did the Declaration of Independence claim to be the inalienable rights of all men? How were those rights denied to women and those held in slavery, ad how was that justified?
The rights that the Declaration of Independence claimed to be the inalienable rights of all men, that all men are created alike, gifted by their Creator with unalienable Rights which include Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. Women were denied these rights due to existing customs and other laws. Among the justifications which stripped these rights from women was that they had no separate legal existence. In other words, law of coverture played a major role in denying these rights to the women. Regarding slaves, men at that time had the belief that they were owned, traded, and hence completely reliant on their owners. Their existence was merely held and looked upon as goods to be used.
