How did former slaves envision the idea of freedom? What were the kinds of things they wished to accomplish in their lives that were impossible under slavery?

Answer #1

The first foremost idea of freedom for former slaves is that to have the ownership of land as during that time people who owns more land are considered higher official as they have more land with them. These people who have land ownership are called landlords and this slaves used to work in their lands for them. Hence the former slaves envision the idea of freedom to get ownership of land.

During that they want to have good clothes, food, shelter , land ,money and high respect in the society which their owners used to get. This things they cannot get as these people will not relieve them from slavery and main importantly they don't have any land to own or money to buy land as these people are slaves who work for day to day food. So everything they want to have is impossible to have as they were slaves.
