If the United States were to permit importation of lower cost pharmaceuticals from abroad, should this apply to all pharmaceuticals or just to some? If just to some, what criteria should be used?

Answer #1

Initially the permit of importation of lower cost pharmaceuticals should apply only to some pharmaceuticals that are priced very high in the United States and are in high demand where the country cannot meet the domestic demand on regular basis. Also, the pharmaceuticals that are priced very high should be imported initially. If the import is as per the guidelines issued by the government in the way that only drugs that pass the standard test are imported, then only import of other pharmaceuticals should be taken into consideration.
