many people assume that the US is no longer a major exporter. explain why that is not true

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The net exports being negative might be a reason why people assume that the US is no longer a major exporter.

But that is not true because American companies still sell over $2.3 trillion in goods and the United States still has a trade surplus owing to export of services while the service sector contributes to almost 7/10ths of US jobs. High import tariffs have been a major cause as to why net exports have been in the negative side. But that does not change the fact that the US still exports majority of goods like food, petroleum, automobile parts, cars and pharmaceuticals around the world.
