What would happen to GDP if a significant number of house-spouses who were previously staying home to care for their children began taking jobs and placing their children in day-care? Would the nation's well-being necessarily be better off?

Answer #1

The GDP will be boosted if a significant number of house-spouses who were previously staying home to care for their children began taking jobs and placing their children in day-care. In other words, GDP will increase due to increase in the economic activity of those persons who were earning nothing previously. But on the other hand the nation's well-being may not necessarily be better off giving the fact the that there are many researches which prove that the bond between the children and the parents be harmed as they will spend time without parental supervision which in turn will harm the children’s performance in the latter age and also due to the fact if the breastfeeding will also be disturbed heavily which harm the physical as well as mental health of the children.
