Government health care is a good public policy initiative to service large number of patients and give security to the poor and disadvantaged class of people. It benefits large group of people which ultimately leads to less premium for the insurance, the common public has to pay. The government can provide with the extra necessary income over an above the premium so that economically disadvantaged class of people get quality healthcare at affordable price.
The negative aspect of this policy can also be that government already has a huge fiscal deficit, wherein it cant finance a scheme of such a large scale. Secondly, if there is no quality healthcare provided then the policy could be of no use, the government will have to first allocate equilibrium number of hospitals and doctors in order to meet the demand through the scheme when it is implemented.
I agree that the government should provide quality healthcare as health is the basic necessity of individuals. A country wont be able to progress unless and until it's people are healthy and stress free. Healthcare is often expensive, with government induced measures, it can turn cheap and affordable for individuals. The government will have to ensure that it is providing quality health care and caters to the needs of the people.
