• PGP encryption has compatibility issue that means both sender machine and receiver machine must have same or compatible PGP software version for encrypted message to be decoded.

• The PGP passphrases which are weak can be cracked or obtained by a malicious code like Trojan.

• PGP message encryption requires good knowledge of PGP encryption because it uses hybrid method of symmetric key encryption which uses two keys. It can be more complex as compared to traditional symmetric encryption.

• PGP message encryption has very lengthy public keys. Maintenance of key is very difficult as Public key and Private Key has its own various expiration date.

• PGP does not provide any recovery mechanism for lost messages or forgotten passwords.

• Larger file cannot be secured by PGP as email message with attached file size increases after PGP encryption.
