A semiconductor is a material which has electrical conductivity is lower than the conductors and higher than the insulators at the low temperature.

The materials which have zero energy band gap between the conduction of valance band or overlap of the conduction of valance band. The conductors are good conductors of electricity. The Fermi level energy in the conductors is zero.

The conductivity of the conductors and semiconductor materials depends on the temperature. When the temperature increases, the electrical conductivity of the conductors will decrease and semiconductors will increase. Because when the temperature of the conductor increases then the frequent motion of the charge careers increases the collisions which results in less charge flow.

The material that has significant farmi level energy is known as semiconductors.
