Question

an
isolated T beam is composed of a flange 700 mm wide and 150mm deep
poured monolithically with a web of 250mm width which extends 600mm
below the bottom surface of the flange to produce a beam of 750mm
in total depth, h. if the effective depth, d is 650mm, determine
the required area of tensile reinforcement using fc’=21 Mpa and
fy=415 Mpa. Design factored moment is 800 KN-m

Answer #1

Design a T Beam for s floor system. Thickness of slab is 75 mm
and width of the web is 375 mm, with an effective depth of 600 mm.
The beam carries a dead load moment of 270 KN m and a live load
moment of 460 KN m. The beam has a span of 5.4 m and has a spacing
center to center equal to 1.8 m, fc’ = 20.7 MPa, fy = 345 MPa.

An unstiffened beam of equal flange has flange width 171 mm and
total depth 352 mm. thickness of flange 9.7mm and thickness of web
6.9mm. Check to see whether it meets the condition for minimum web
thickness. Assuming fy = 320 MPa calculate the nominal
shear yield capacity of the web Vw. Modulus of
elasticity = 200 x 103 N/mm2.

An I Beam is made out of two equal flanges 170
mm width and 10 mm thickness. Thickness of web is 7mm. Total depth
of the beam from top of the upper flange to the bottom of the lower
flange is 350 mm. Calculate the slenderness value ʎe for
the flange and the web. What is the slenderness value for the
section ʎs? Take fy = 300 MPa. For flange ʎep
= 10 and ʎey = 30 and for web...

The width of a rectangular beam is 250 mm and the
effective depth is 317 mm. The tensile reinforcement is provided by
3 bars of 16 mm. Determine the moment of resistance of the section
as per limit state method.
