Question

What determines the color of a colored object?

What determines the color of a colored object?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

We know each color is associated with particular wavelength and each wavelength. Each object is made of by atoms.

Atoms have electronic arrangment. When atom absorbs radiation there is excitation in electrons when these electrons come back to ground state they emit the light radiations. This emission depends upon the arrangement of electrons in the atom.

emitted light radiation have different color range.

so the color of the colored object depends upon the electronic arrangement in the atom.

In squash, the fruit can be white, green, or yellow. One gene determines whether the fruit will be white or colored, while another gene determines whether a colored fruit will be yellow or green. Recall that yellow (Y) is dominant over green (y), and white (W) is dominant over color (w). If a squash has yellow fruit, could it have had a white parent? Could it have had a green parent? Start by writing the possible genotypes for a squash...

The distribution of melanosomes in cells is tightly regulated in animals that rapidly change color. Dark-colored cells have melanosomes scattered throughout the cytoplasm while light-colored cells have them aggregated near the nucleus. How could cells use microtubules and motor proteins to change the distribution of melanosomes? Select all that apply. Kinesin would be used for moving melanosomes back to the nucleus in light-colored cells. Microtubules originate near the nucleus of animal cells, and the positive ends project outward. Dynein would...
