Explain what is meant by the term “endpoint” (sometimes also called equivalence point)?
Equivalence Point - It is point during titration at which the amount of titrant added is just enough to completely neutralize the analyte solution (This point is generally indicated by using a Indicator).At the equivalence point or end-point in an acid-base titration, moles of base= moles of acid. Hence the solution at that point only consist of salt and water.
For example:
HCl + NaOH -------at equivalence point-----> NaCl + H20
At this point there will be no HCl and NaOH left in the solution.
**Endpoint can also be defined as the point at which indicator changes color.
