since carbon is 4th group element, H is 1st group element and Cl is 7th group element

(b)    PO43− = 1x5+4x6+3 = 32 valence electrons

since P is 5th group element, O is 6th group element and 3 electrons for negative charge

(c)    Ca(NO3)2 = 1x2+2x[1x5+3x6] = 48 velence electrons

since Ca is 2nd group element, N is 5th group element, O is 6th group element
