_____<_________<_________

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Larger the negative charge on an atom, larger will be size because extra electron cause more repulsion hence ionic size increases, thus size order is : Al3+ < O2- < N3-

Ionization energy order: it is energy needed to remove an electron.

higher the number of proton at the nucleus , higher will be force of attraction experienced by outermost shell electron being removed. As Al3+ has highest proton and N has minimum among the given spevies. Therefore, order is N3- < O2- < Al3+

electron attachment enthalpy : if added electron is more attracted toward nucleus then attachment enthalpy will be higher, Al3+ has highest number of proton at the nucleus and N3- has mminimum number of proton hence, order of attachment enthalpy will be:

N3- < O2- < Al3+
