How would you prepare a solution of 0.15M of glucose in water
All depends of what volume of solution you want to prepare. Lets say, for example, you want a volume of 50 mL.
For a volume of 50 mL, you'll need the following moles of glucose:
50mL = 0.05 L
0.15M = 0.15 mol/L * 0.05 L = 0.0075 moles of glucose
This, in grams:
0.0075 moles of glucose * (180 g/mol) = 1.35 grams.
Another form of preparing the solution is by dilution, having a solution of certain concentration of glucose, and adding water to it to make it 0.15 M. For example, if we have a 0.5 M solution of glucose and we want 50 mL of 0.15 M:
V1C1 = V2C2
0.5M * V1 = 0.15M * 50ml
V1 = 15 mL
