a 2.1 m solution of glucose and water has a molarity of? (density of the glucose solution is 1.06 g/mL)

Homework Answers

Answer #1

2.1 m means 2.1 moles of glucose in 1 kg of solvent.

mass of glucose = 2.1 *180 = 378 g

from density 1.06 g of glucose has 1 mL volume then

(1000 + 378) g of glucose slution has 1378/1.06 mL

                                    = 1300 mL

molarity = (378 / 180) * (1000/1300)

molarity = 1.6153 M
