Determine the molarity of a glucose solution where 180g of glucose (C6H`12O6) is dissolved in 1 liter of water. How many glucose molecules would be present per liter?
When 180g of glucose is dissolved in 1 litre of water, it is 1M
Molarity = moles of solute/ volume of solution(in litres)
molecular weight of glucose = 180g
Mole of a solute is equal to the molecular weight of the solute.
So, for 180 g of glucose which is the molceular weight of glucose,
moles of glucose = 1 mole
So,molarity = 1mole /1 litre
= 1M (ans)
The number of glucose molecules that would be present per litre = Avogadro's number = 6.022*10^23 molecules.
