Rank the following ions (Fluoride, Oxide, Nitride, Sodium, Magnesium) in order of increasing size.

Answer #1

F- , O2- , N3- , Na+ , Mg+2

For cation the size will be decreses due to the electron removed from valece shell sothat the nuclear chagre will be very high i.e., +ve charge in nucleaus is high compare to -ve charge of electron

For anion the size will be increases due to the electron added into valence shell sothat the nuclear charge cannot hold the valece electron tightly i.e., +ve charge in nucleaus is low compare to -ve charge of electron.

so the order Mg+2 < Na+ < F- < O2- < N3-
