If Volume = 0.075 ft^3, Mass = 1lb, Temperature = 70F. Convert the mass and specific volume into molar volume and moles for n-Pentane.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

If Volume = 0.075 ft^3, Mass = 1lb, Temperature = 70F. Convert the mass and specific volume into molar volume and moles for n-Pentane.

m = 1lb = 453.592 g
molar mass of pentane (C5H12) = 72.15 g/mol
number of moles, n = mass / molar mass = 453.592/72.15 = 6.287 mol

Answer: moles = 6.287 mol

volume of 6.287 mol = 0.075 ft^3
molar volume = volume of 1 mol
             = (0.075 ft^3)/ 6.287 mol
           = 0.012 ft^3/mol

Answer: Molar volume= 0.012 ft^3/mol
