given the reaction

NH3(aq)+HCl(aq) <--> NH4Cl(aq)

consider the following changes:

a) add HCl

b) add NaOH

c) remove NH4Cl

d) raise temperature

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Reaction---

NH3(aq) + HCl(aq) = NH4Cl(aq)

a.) Adding HCl will lead the reaction to forward to gain the equilibrium again.

b.) Adding NaOH it consume HCl resulting which HCl decreases and reaction will shift towards backward to attain equilibrium.

c.) Remove NH4Cl will shift reaction towards product side to attain equilibrium.

d.) It is an exothermic reaction so if we increase the temperature it will shift the reaction backward towards reactant side.
