Question

What is the definition of molecular mass?

What is the definition of molecular mass?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

=> Molecular mass is also called as molecular weight.

=> It is the mass of a molecule, calculated as the sum of the atomic weights of each constituent element multiplied by the number of atoms of that element in the molecular formula.

=> The molecular mass gives the mass of a molecule relative to that of the 12C atom, which is taken to have a mass of 12.

Ex: The molar mass of CH4 =molar mass of Carbon+4xmolar mass of Hydrogen=12.001+4x1.00794=16.043.
