Answer #1

racemic borneaol moles = mass / Molar mass of racemic borneaol = 0.362 / 154.25 =0.002347

isoborneol moles expected = 0.00247

isoborneol mass expected = moles x isoborneol molar mass = 0.002347 x 154.25 = 0.362 g

actual yiled = 0.175 g   ( 5.387 - 5.212 = 0.175 g)

percent yiled = ( 100 x actual mass/ expected mass of product) = ( 100 x 0.175 /0.362) = 48.34 %

2) racemic borneaol mass = 0.362

expected isoborneaol = 0.362 g ( same as above)

actual mass = 0.08 g

% yiled = ( 100 x 0.08/0.362) = 22 %
