Answer – We are given sodium iodide in acetone along with the appropriate alkyl halide and we know when we reacted with primary alkyl halide with sodium iodide in acetone there is SN2 reaction, since primary alkyl halide goes faster reaction with SN2. If there is formed alkyl iodide then we can tell there is reaction occurred and if there is not formed alkyl iodide then we can tell there is reaction not procced, since there is alkyl halide remaining as it is. We can determine these changes using another tests or by NMR.
