Select the true statement below: none of these statements are true CO2 has more covalent character than NO2 CO2 is a stronger reducing agent than NO2 NO2 is more acidic than CO2 CO2 is more polar than NO2

Homework Answers

Answer #1

A reducing agent is the one with which can get oxidise itself by giving away electrons. CO2 shape is linear and zero dipole moment where as NO2 is bent and has got polarity. So NO2 is stronger reducing agent than CO2

Acidic nature is the tendency to gain electron. Stonger the electronegativity of the element, stronger the pull to attract the electrons. N is more electronegative than C. Hence NO2 is more acidic than CO2 (though they have the same oxidation state of +4) - True

CO2 is more polar than NO2 - False
