What are the pi and sign a bonds in a molecule of lidocaine? Are there any delocalized pi bonds if so label them? And is the molecule chiral if so add an * lecture to the strerocenters

Homework Answers

Answer #1

lidocaine is used as local anesthetic

Except the 3 double bonds in benzene rings and one bond between the carbonyl group

(bond between carbon and oxygen) all the other bonds are sigma bonds In lidocaine

molecule.

The pi bonds that are present in the benzene ring are delocalized pi bonds (red colored)

A molecule is said to be chiral if it has atleast on chiral carbon and without any elements Of

symmetry. A chiral carbon should attach to four different atoms or groups. Since there is

no chiral carbons present In lidocaine it IS not a chiral molecule.

This is about hydrogen bonding. 1. Can covalent bonds and hydrogen bonds be in the same molecule? 2. Do they(covalent bonds) have to be present for Hydrogen bonding to take place? 3. And if so are Covalent bonds stronger then the Hydrogen bond? Is this always the case? 4. And what is the significance of knowing that covalent bonds are stronger? (Does it tell us any properties, or ...idk)

Bond Valuation: Netflix is issuing a new series of coupon bonds. The bonds will mature in 10 years, have a $1,000 face value, have a 6.5% coupon rate (paid annually). Netflix’s credit rating is B (Yield rate - 8.9%). a. How much can Netflix expect to sell each bond for? b. Suppose that, in exactly one year (so immediately after the bond pays its first coupon), Netflix experiences a credit rating upgrade from B (8.9%) to B+ (8%). What would...
