What are the products from the following single-replacement reaction?
Cd(s) + AgNO3(aq) →

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Since in single replacement reaction, anion part of one of the reactant will exchange. So for reaction

Cd(s) + AgNO3 (aq), the product will be

Cd(s) + AgNO3 (aq) Cd(NO3)2 (aq) + Ag (s)

In above reaction on left side there are one NO3 and on right side there are 2 NO3s. Hence to balance out on both side, multiply on left side to NO3 by 2. As we multiply NO3 by 2, Ag will also be balanced out. Hence final reaction will be

Cd(s) + 2AgNO3 (aq) Cd(NO3)2 (aq) + 2Ag (s)

Thanks.
