- What is an example in which a source of natural water would be basic? acidic?

Answer #1

The pH of pure water is 7 , which makes it neutral in nature.

But the natural water is not always pure. It has certain kinds of dissolved substances in it , in the form of minerals and ions , which increases or decreases its pH value , making it basic or acidic respectively.

The ground water is usually hard and alkaline (basic) , as it contains minerals in the dissolved from the limestone (CaCO3).

The natural rain water is acidic , due to its interaction with acidic gases such as CO2 .
