Powder form of enzymes are considered as hazardous substances. In dilute aqueous concentrations they are considered to be low hazard. Enzymes are usually made up as a percentage concentration. A 0.5% to 1% w/v solution is generally suitable for enzyme digestion practicals. It is always best to use the lowest concentration and smallest amount possible. Enzymes are biologically active proteins. It is better to avoid inhalation of enzyme dust or aerosols, it may lead to sensitisation and allergic reactions. Enzyme powder exposure may cause asthma and are irritating to the eyes, respiratory system, mucous membranes and skin.

Hence, enzymes can be used in powder form but it is better to make stock solution with distilled water to avoid hazard and to avoid use of excessive amount of enzyme.
