17. Why is it useful to be able to test for these different substances? Provide one example of each test (Benedicts, Biuret, Iodine, Sudan IV) being used in a real world situation ie not as part of a biology or chemistry lab.

Benedicts test-

- This test is used to check the presence of the glucose in the urine.-

- If glucose is present in the urine then it is the indication of diabetes.

- Presence of glucose in the urine is called glucosuria.

Biuret test -

- Biuret test is used to determine presence of protein in the sample.

- If protein is present in the urine then it is indication of kidney problem.

- Hidh level of protein in the blood may be due to chronic infections or due to dehydration

Iodine test -

- Starch can be detected by using iodine test.

- Iodine test is used to detect fat contents.

Sudan IV test -

- Sudan IV test is used to detect the presence of lipid .
