What is NF?B and what is its role in mediating signals through TLRs?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

NF-kB, (nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells,
is a protein which regulates trascription as well as prodcution of cytokines in cells.
The protein complex plays an important role in regulating immune response.
TLRs are the recpetor proteins which activate the target proteins when bound by specific molecules.
When specific molecules like IKK complex binds to TLR, the downstream NFkB is activated
leading to transcription of specific genes.

3. A receptor protein (RPX) has been shown to be involved in mediating transcription of gene X. RPX has a binding region for metabolite (M). In the absence of metabolite, acetylase p300 is recruited to form a complex involved in chromatin remodelling. In the presence of metabolite, deacetylase HDAC1 is recruited to form a complex involved in chromatin remodelling. A) In the absence of metabolite, how would you characterize the role (one word) of RPX regarding transcription? Briefly explain your...
