Question

What is the Celsius degrees at which gas molecules will have the most kinetic energy.

What is the Celsius degrees at which gas molecules will have the most kinetic energy.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Nitrogen and helium have the highest average kinetic energy at 100°C because they have the highest temperature. Temperature indicates average kinetic energy.

But according to the particle size of gas molecules have tend to move at different speeds with this kinetic energy. Gases with smaller particles will move faster at the same temperature at higher speeds.

Example: Helium has small particles and high temperatures at 100°C will move at higher speeds.

Highest speed is the Helium at 100°C and highest kinetic energy will have both for Nitrogen and Helium at 100°C.
