Approaches used to control microbes in the environment and in the human body are different due to the fact of different complexities and different organisations of the two systems. The agents and substances used to control microbes in the environment cannot be applied to the human body, as some of these reagents can react against the human body. For example hexachlrophene used as disinfectant has been found to create neurological disorders in humans. In the same way some bactericidal reagents applied on surfaces cannot be used on humans as they can cause digestive problems. Formaldehyde used as decontaminant can be carcinogenic to humans.
Thus reagents applied to environment for restricting microbial growth cannot always be used on humans.
