why is hyperthermia reached more quickly than hypothermia? explain using positive feedback

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Hyperthermia is that the body's temperature set point remains unchanged which is characterized by abnormally high temperature. And hypothermia is that occurs when temperature drop below that required to maintain normal metabolism, which is characterized as when body's regulation system overwhelmed by outside factors, causing a person's internal temperature to rise.

Hypothermia works as positive feedback. That is, during hypothermia, human's body temperature falls and is being lost quicker than it can be produced. Metabolic rate also will be reduced. So hypothermia works as positive feedback loop as body tries so hard to return to normal temperature,as the brain begins to shut down.

So hyperthermia is more quickly reached than hypothermia since hypothermia follow positive feedback loop.
