Neural Crest Cells.
1. Describe how an ectodermal cell becomes a multipotent neural crest cell.
2. How do lineage tracing experiments demonstrate that a neural crest cell is multipotent?
1) There is an involvement of initial epithelial mesenchymal transition to delaminate from the ectoderm layer (in the neural crest cells migration).
Then these neural crest cells which are depending on the rostrocaudal level which is within the embryo , migrate throughout the embryo with a very distinct morphological patterns.
2) Its a fact that neural crest cells can generate a great variety of cells and as well as tissue also , and therefore represents the multipotent cell population ,the stemness of the neural crest cells . As individual cells had to demonstrated on single cell level.
