Pluripotent stem cells can transform into nearly any cell type in the body. Multipotent stem cells are more limited, but they can also differentiate into multiple cell types. Describe what needs to happen on the cellular level for a multipotent stem cell in the intestine, skin, or blood to differentiate into one of the specialized cells that make up these tissues.
In order for the multipotent cells to differentiate into the specialized cells making up the tissues, the manipulation of the genes (and proteins) that need to be expressed is done. The other genes not related to the difeerentiation of the cell into the required tissue cells remain silent. This turning on anf turning off of the required genes is done with the help of the multiple factors. Based on teh tissue the multpotent cells are in, different genes are silenced or expressed.
