Answer #1

Most of the birds including LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE (Lanius ludovicianus) have evolved from reptilian ancestors somewhere around 150 to 200 million years ago in the Mesozoic Era.

The LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE belong to Passeriformes (passerine or perching bird) and its oldest fossil is 40 million-year-old.

Passeriformes consists of more than10,000 species of birds and hence is the largest order of birds .

Since the first fossil is 40 million-year-old, it can be assumed that this bird has been in existence since last 40 million years.

Which of the following best describes how comparative anatomy can be used to determine the evolutionary relationship between two organisms? (2 points) Organisms that have a great deal of physical similarity are more likely to share a common ancestor than two organisms with few physical traits in common. Comparing the physical traits of two organisms makes it possible to determine how long ago they shared a common ancestor. Studying the physical differences between two organisms will show which organism evolved...
