Does import of proteins into mitochondria require chaperones? Why or why not?
Ans. -
Chaperons act as a type of transporters.
Cheperones that assist the conformational folding or unfolding and the assembly or disassembly of other macromolecular structures. Chaperones are present when the macromolecules perform their normal biological functions and have correctly completed the processes of folding and/or assembly.
they help in transport of protein through the membrane of mitochondria, this makes the entry of proteins in mitochondria. That transport protein from outside to inside the mitochondria through its membrane.
