1. How does one determine the parental genotypes? Double crossover classes? How does one determine which gene locus is located in the middle of the three?

2. How does one calculate map distances between these gene loci? How can you test the accuracy of these calculated distances?

need answer for both please.

Answer #1

1) From the progenies highest number genotype is the parental genotype and lowest number genotype is double cross over classes.

Compare parental and double cross over genotype. Which ever gene changes the position in double cross over genotype from parental genotype, that gene is the middle of the three.

2) to calculate the map distance between genes, find the recombinant offspring for those two genes and divide it by the total number of offspring and multiply it by 100 and you will get the map distance between two genes.

To test the accuracy you need to calculate interference and coefficient of coincidence. For coefficient of coincidence you need to determine expected double crossover and observed number of double crossover. Divide observed DCO by the expected DCO and you will get COC and by subtracting it from one you can get the interference.

Which of the following correctly describes this cross? Choose all that apply. Now determine the genotypes of the possible gametes and set up a Punnett square for the cross between two double heterozygotes, as you did before in a previous question (no need to attach that Punnett square). From your Punnett square, determine how many individual kernels have the genotypes and phenotypes shown in the table below. Enter your answers as a number (e.g. 7) not a word (e.g. seven)...

"The orange locus in cats is located on the X chromosome. In females, XoXo results in orange cats and X+X+ results in black cats When a female is heterozygous XoX+, they express both colors in patches due to a phenomenon called X-inactivation in which one X in every cell is inactivated. These females are called calico or tortoiseshell, depending on the presence of white spots. Male cats are either orange (XoY) or black (X+Y). A cross between a black female...
