7. Describe the steps in sensory transduction in olfactory neurons
The transduction occurs in the olfactory receptors located on the cilia at the end of the olfactory receptor neurons. The attachment of the scent molecules to the olfactory receptors creates a series of chemical reactions that results in action potential in the cilia. The signal is sent via the axons to the structurs called as glomeruli , which are present on left and right olfactory bulbs. Then information is carried by lateral olfactory tract to the primary olfactory cortex. From there it goes to thalamus and then orbito frontal cortex for the perception of the smell.
