ANS .Microbiology is a branch of science which deals with the study of microbes .As these microbes are very minute in nature and hence it is not possible to view them naked eyes hence to see them microscope is needed.Study of microbes is very important as they involved in causing several disease to living beings .In 1665 Robert Hook built the microscope and observed the slice of the crock and came up with the term cell.It was until  Van Leeuwenhoek who built 300 X microscope . He was a Dutch merchant and lens grinder who made over 400 microscope and discovered microbial world .He developed best microscope of his time and of next 100 years and was able to see bacteria and other microbes from various samples like blood ,soil ,water etc.He coined the term animalcule which means microscopic animal .And hence his discovery of microbes made the scientist working in the field of microbiology to discover further about the microbes and study about their shape,stucture,movement etc. So, we can say that his discovery about microbes was a mile stone achievement in the field of microbiology.
