What factors determine the amount of applied force needed to move an object?
Hey there
Since you asked let me explain
Suppose there is a body and you need to move it
You must apply a force to it
How much that force must be ??
The first question why would the body don't body will move by a
tiny amount of force .
Yes you guess it Right. Friction
So if we encounter the friction
The body will move
Now question arise what factor determines friction
The only factors are
1. Coefficient of friction: It is a number which is dimensionless
and it is the ratio of frictional force to normal force. Ff =
μFn
μ=Ff/Fn, where Ff= Force of friction , μ= coefficient of friction and Fn= normal force. Being dimensionless, it has no unit and hence a scalar quantity.
2. And the mass of object ...
3. Acceleration due to gravity ....
I hope this cleared your doubts ...
