dura mater, arachnoid mater, pia mater

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The correct order of meninges from outer to inner are as follows

-Duramater mater

Arachanoid mater

Pia mater.

Duramater is derived from the ectomeninx and is closely attached to the periosteum and it gives infolds named

1 falx cerebri

2. Falx cerebelli

3.Tentorium cerebelli

4. Diaphragma sellae.

Arachanoid mater is avascular and is derived from the endomeninx. It is spread in the brain but not goes deeper into the fissure.

Piamater is derived from the endomeninx and it is closely adhere to the surface of brain tissue. It is highly vascularized and it penetrates the cerebral foldings.

Which of the following scenarios best describes how cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is produced? CSF is continually produced by pia mater and secreted onto surface of brain. Neurons of gray matter absorb electrolytes from fenestrated capillaries and secrete CSF into arachnoid granulations. Ependymal cells of a choroid plexus absorb fluid from fenestrated capillaries and secrete CSF into ventricle lumen. Astrocytes absorb fluid that leaks through endothelial cells and secrete CSF into subarachnoid space.

A woodpecker’s brain is specially protected from large decelerations by tendon-like attachments inside the skull. While pecking on a tree, the woodpecker’s head comes to a stop from an initial velocity of 0.450 m/s in a distance of only 1.70 mm. Find the acceleration in m/s2 and in multiples of g (g = 9.80 m/s2). Acceleration =   Multiples of g = Then, Calculate the stopping time: Lastly, The tendons cradling the brain stretch, making its stopping distance 4.59 mm (greater...
