Name two bones connected by an interosseous membrane found in the antebrachial region. If I have a greenstick fracture of the medial bone named here, what does that fracture look like, and which bone is it on?
Antebrachial region is the region between the elbow and hand.It is also called as forearm.
Bones in this region are Ulna and radius. And these are connected by interosseous membrane. This is fibrous membrane present obliquely between the two bones. And it helps in holding the two bones together, attachment of muscles. There are holes in this membrane, providing space for forearm vasulature.
Medial bone in this region is ulna.Greenstick fracture is the fracture in which ,there is no splitting of the bone into 2 structures. But rather there is split of the periosteum of the bone. This looks like ,breaking of the branch of a tree and thus it is named as greenstick fracture. And this mainly occurs in children.Because their bones are soft in nature.
