Cancer cells’ metabolism is heavily dependent on glycolysis. Considering how varying the intensity and duration of exercise may impact the overall availability of substrates, what type of exercise would you expect to reduce tumor growth most effectively. Explain in detail why you think so.
Detailed answer please!
Tumor cells or cancer cells derive most of the energy for the cell growth is from glycolysis by glucose is converted to lactate for energy followed by lactate fermentation. The tumor cells exibit aerobic glycolysis which means energy produced with the help of oxygen. Aneorobic glycolysis is used by the body during short term excercise. As an exercise continues more than 10 seconds, the anaerobic glycolytic system takes charge of providing ATP. This will lead to the use of glucose present in the body quickly in the abscence of oxygen. So the cancer cells not get enough amount of glucose to use for their cell functioning. And it will help to reduce the growth of tumor. So need to take short and intensive excercises it will had a greater effect on tumor cell growth.
