Denervation of a skeletal muscle will cause it to stop functioning.

True

False

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Given statment is TRUE.

Denervation means stoppage of nerve supply.

Skeletal muscles works only when they receive stimulus form the nervous system. This stimulus is carried by nerves which innervate the muscles. The nerves and the muscles are connected by a neuromuscular junction.

At neuromuscular junction, the nerves release neurotransmitter which bind to muscle and cause generation of action potential in muscle. This action potential is responsible for activity of muscle.
